If you are in the world of online funded trader evaluation programs you most likely have come across Rithmic. Most of the companies use it, and as well several other brokerages use Rithmic as well.
The question is asked sometimes, what exactly is “Rithmic”? Is it the actual brokerage? Is it just data? What is RTrader Pro? All will be answered below.
If you are interested in trading futures, be sure to check out my Reviews of Funded Futures Trader Evaluations. I update it every day.
Rithmic – What It Is
Rithmic essentially does 2 things:
- It provides data to your trading platform. Current prices, volume traded at those prices and more. Basically everything you see on your chart, depth of market or other is data that is being fed to your machine by Rithmic. They are a Futures Market Data Provider.
- They provide Order Routing to your brokerage. Any orders you execute on your trading platform are then relayed to your connected brokerage via Rithmic.
Rithmic is a pipeline, bringing data to you, and sending your orders back to your brokerage.
Rithmic – What It Isn’t
Rithmic is NOT a brokerage. They do not hold your funds. Your orders are not executed by Rithmic. They are the pipeline, not the beginning or end destination.
They do connect to a large variety of brokerages and services. As mentioned earlier, they are the primary provider of data and order execution for the various Trader Evaluation Programs.
RTrader Pro is Rithmics own trading platform. People often confuse Rithmic with being similar to companies like Ninja Trader, Meta Trader or Sierra Charts. In some ways they are, RTrader Pro is just a trading platform.
The difference is RTrader Pro really isn’t the primary business of Rithmic, and if anything I’d describe it as a courtesy software for people who want a free option to trade on. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. You get what you pay for, if you want a dynamic platform you have to pay for the main trading software people use. If you just want the free option, RTrader Pro is just fine, and obviously connects to Rithmic (and only Rithmic).
In the end there’s not much to say about Rithmic, just clarification on what Rithmic is and is not. As mentioned above, the best analogy is think of it as a pipeline, bringing you data, and sending your orders back to your broker.

Futures and forex trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor. An investor could potentially lose all or more than the initial investment. Risk capital is money that can be lost without jeopardizing ones’ financial security or life style. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.
Hypothetical Performance Disclosure:
Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown; in fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading. for example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all which can adversely affect trading results.
